      wins viewers' hearty applause

YANGON, 1 June Myanmar artistes who had staged
variety dances and anyeints at Myanmar-Japan
friendship cultural show in Tokyo met the Press
at Yangon International Airport yesterday evening
soon after arriving back from Japan.

Leader of the Myanmar cultural delegation
Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Asiayon
U Sein Tin and members Bogale U Tint Aung and Gita
Lulin U Ko Ko explained their experiences during
the show, saying the group led by Bogale U Tint
Aung left here for Tokyo on 14 May and the group
led by U Sein Tin on 19 May.

Twelve ladies were included in the 30-member
delegation, they said.

With the cooperation of art-lovers in Japan,
the delegation made prevarations to stage the
friendship cultural show at Nihon Kyoiku Kaikan
Theatre in Tokyo, they recounted.

The show was formally opened by Myanmar
Ambassador to Japan U Khin Maung Thein and
Chairman of Institute of Asian Ethno-Forms and
Culture Professor Mr Kaneko with a ceremony on
22 May, they said.

Myanmar artistes staged variety dances and
anyeints in the presence of relatives of the
royal family of Japan, officials of the Japanese
government, ambassadors and Myanmars who were
living in Japan at the theatre on 22 and 23 May,
winning the hearty applause of the audience,
they recalled.

The show achieved cent per cent success due
to the goodwill assistance rendered by Japanese
officials, the Myanmar Ambassador and staff and
Myanmars residing in Japan, they said.

However, the permission to present the fourth
and final day programme was revoked by authorities
as there was some arrest caused by about two Myanmars
at the end of the third day performance, they
recounted.

The two who were residing in Japan disturbed the
performance under the pretext of human rights and
democracy which led to a melee with the audience,
