Myanmar New Year Party Held in Tokyo, Myanmar Embassy 

A Myanmar New Year gathering was held at the Embassy of the Union ofMyanmar in
Tokyo on 17th
April 1999, which ushered in to the Myanmar Era year of 1361. Invited to
the gathering were delegates of all
friendly Myanmar Organizations in Japan which were formed by Myanmar
residents, who affiliated to their
social, political, cultural, racial and professional needs. 

During the gathering, 34 delegates from various societies had a meeting
with Ambassador H.E. U Khin
Maung Thein, who greeted them and offered them to make good use of the
Embassy and its facilities in
promoting their livelihood in Japan, as it is one of the main
responsibilities of the Embassy to protect the
interest of its citizens. The Ambassador urged them to let him know if
there exists any difficulty that the
Embassy could help in dissolving and encouraged them to seek any
cooperation they might need, and
that the Embassy will give every necessary assistance within the bounds of
existing rules and regulations. 

It was learnt that delegates expressed their gratitude to the Ambassador
for his words of encouragement and
advice. Valuable views and opinions were exchanged between the delegates
and the officials of the
Embassy during the discussion that followed and it was mutually agreed upon
that similar meetings take
place once in every three months in the future in the interest of Myanmar
Citizens. 

The attendants of the gathering were entertained with Myanmar traditional
food and eateries. (The New Year
Party began at 2:30 pm and concluded at 5:30 pm.)
